Ellie's newest cake is a tender white cake with raspberry filling with edible Peregrine Falcon feathers. The cake is for Glenn, who is a falconer.
Each of the feathers were made by hand from thinly rolled fondant. After the feathers dried for a few hours, she painted them by hand using food coloring that was thinned with vodka. The rocks on the edge are made of chocolate. The color on the frosting is also applied using a brush and food coloring.
I love the way the top looks, too.
